Hey guys, and girls. Take care of each other. Don’t let petty arguments and dislikes of others get in the way of family. Family is family. They’re most likely good people, and you’ll miss them when they are eventually gone.

Unless they’re assholes like my side of the family, then make sure you adopt someone else’s.

I do still like my sister kinda, so there’s that.

Thank you for those thoughts, good Oppo.

My family has issues. My wife’s family is great and I lucked out and I’ve enjoyed growing old with them. My brother is here with me on Oppo and Oppo is a keen interest that we share. And airplanes and photography and his sons. Good stuff.

Peace.

Ah. You have the same issue my family does. The only time mine shows solidarity is when someone dies. Then its back to “normal”.

Heck, I’m the quiet one I hate arguing over petty BS. Because of that I didn’t get invited to the Family Reunion. They made sure I saw it all on FB though.

Wow, that’s low. Sorry about that crap.

I’m not a big “family is family” guy, myself. You don’t have to be related to someone for them to feel like family should.

No sorry needed. The joke is on them. I’m perfectly happy with just Lloyd, some land and my hobby.

You’re absolutely right. My coworkers and current friends are more “family” than my actual family. Life can be weird like that though.

Family problem-solving methods typically cause us all to face palm. I hate it when relatives start comparing each other’s kids and cause all sorts of unhealthy and unnecessary psychological competition.

Doesn’t take away from the good times, though—honestly, it’s likely that relatives will remain lifelong friends as others come and go.

Lost my father this year to lung cancer. Thankfully the drama was minimal. As the bros say, “I feel ya bro.” Cheers and take care.

Family is the best opportunity to forge lifelong bonds and when it works out well, nothing can compare with relatives that you’ve spent your formative years with.

But if it doesn’t work out, blood relations should not force us to maintain unhealthy relationships. Those who pressure you otherwise are not being understanding of the problem.

That’s really the essence of “family first”—not something to be forced, but something to be respected and cherished for those who have had a positive impact on your life.

Who is your brother? I find you to be worth listening to, I’m sure he is too.

Oh, family drama. So unnecessary. Glad you made it through.

As they say, blood is thicker than water...but who really wants to be that thick?
